Oak Forest High School Student Council Advisor Amy Bertrand, along with the OFHS Student Council, has announced the exciting events for Homecoming week, September 14-18.
On Monday, September 14 students will compete in the traditional clash of the classes: The Powder Puff Game. The Powder Puff Game will be held on the football field at 6:30 pm. In addition to the class clash on the field, students are encouraged to dress in the colors of their class: Freshmen should wear red, Sophomores should wear blue, Juniors should wear white and Seniors should wear black.Tuesday, September 15 is Toga Tuesday and students will show their spirit by wearing togas to school. It is also the classic hall decoration day. Students will be designing a hall decoration in a designated hallway to represent the theme: “A Historical Homecoming.” The Freshmen will be using the theme “Ancient Egypt”, the Sophomores will be using the theme “Ancient Greece”, the Juniors will be using theme “Roman Empire” and the Seniors will be using the theme “Medieval Times.” Hall decorations represent a lot of time and effort and students really throw themselves into their given theme. Wednesday, September 16 is Warrior Wednesday and students will show their spirit by wearing their favorite “Warrior” gear to school. Also, this is the important day when faculty and staff vote for their favorite hall decoration. The winners will be announced at the Homecoming Assembly, held on Friday. Thursday, September 17 is Historical Figure Day. Students will show their spirit by sporting a costume representing their favorite historical figure.Friday, September 18 is Spirit Day: students should wear black and gold spirit wear. The big Homecoming Assembly starts at 2:10 and the Parade starts right after school at 4 pm. It is also the day of the big football game against the Bremen Braves. The Varsity Game will be at 7 pm and the sophomore game is at 5 pm. Half time events start at 8:00 pm! The week culminates in the Homecoming Dance on Saturday. It is exciting to see students decked out in their formal attire. The dance takes place from 7 pm to 10 pm and pictures will be starting at 6:30 pm.
