Oak Forest HS Baking Basics Students Battle to Become Cake Champions

Two teams were crowned Cake Champions!

Oak Forest High School Baking Basics recently had a cake war and crowned one winning team per class. The cakes were judged based on appearance and taste by participating teachers. Oak Forest High School Baking Basics teacher Mrs. Vogel crowned the teams.

The fifth hour Baking Basics cake champions were Hannah Edwards, Becca Wahlberg, Corrina Boersma and Breeauna Bruce. The cake they designed was for a little girl’s birthday party and was built around a mermaid theme. They made a round funfetti double layer cake covered by fondant and decorated with homemade mermaids and fanciful icing effects.

The eighth hour Baking Basics cake champions were Kylie Powers, Krista Brill, Denise Arenas, Mae Ramos and Zoe Leff. This team also made a cake designed for a little girl’s birthday party. The cake they created was a double layer funfetti cake covered with pink fondant and blue fondant polka dots.
