Oak Forest HS Band and Choir Win Big at Solo and Ensemble Competition

Congratulations to all the Oak Forest High School Band and Choir students who participated in this year’s Solo and Ensemble Competition, held at Hinsdale South High School. Oak Forest High School Band and Choir students won 27 Division I ratings and 29 Division II ratings.

Special honors went to Marley Majetic for her flute solo and to Margaret Good for her clarinet solo. Both of these girls won a perfect score for their solos.

First Place winners for Band were soloists: Audrey Cooper for trombone, Jessica Velazquez for flute, Danielle Murawski for saxophone, Danny Ryan for euphonium, Zoe Hermanas for flute and Nathan McGovern for saxophone. Megan Toppen and Nicole Borosak earned First Place for their percussion ensemble.

Second place winners for Band were: Holly Holtam for her piano solo, Audrey Cooper and Emily Keegan for their trombone ensemble, Sam Pinkowski, Kika Arias, Kristen Olejnik, and Matt Casey for their saxophone ensemble; and Amanda Beall, Casey Wolff, Tristan Edge, and Madelin Spagnola for their clarinet ensemble.

First Place winners for Choir were: Mickenzie Alexander, Shaina Spinks, John Paras, Breanne Morrissey, Emily Cooper, Megan Rubin, Amanda Petit, Mark Burghard, Izzy Oboza. First Place ensembles for Choir were: the Madrigal Singers, the Ladies-in-Waiting Ensemble, the duets of Victoria Rice and Destiny Harris, Shane Bednarek and Mark Burghard, and Alex Joritz and Shane Bednarek.

Second Place winners for Choir were: Valerie Ramirez, Brianne Ryan, Breanna Horvath, Erica Hennessy, Dawn Lubaton, Lindsey Paras, Victoria Rice, Herb Sommer, Shane Bednarek, Sabrina Swidergal, and Margaret Good. Second Place winners for Choir ensembles were: the Girls’ Jazz Group Harmoni, the duets of Sara Boblink and Samantha Pellegrino, Amelia Sorenson and Emily Hendzel, and Julia Gerringer and Sabrina Swidergal.

The Oak Forest High School Band is directed by Nick Rojek and the Choir is directed by Victor Pazik.
