Oak Forest HS BPA Qualifies Nine Students for National Competition

Business Professionals of America students brought home 12 State medals and qualified nine students for Nationals

Oak Forest High School Business Professionals of America sponsor Connie McSweeney announced that Oak Forest High School BPA students brought home 12 State medals and qualified nine students for National Competition at the BPA State Competition that was held on February 27 and 28.

Special honors went to Alex Lambros, Rebecca Howe, Marilyn Gasienica and Jodi Bushnell-Aleman who received the Statesman Torch Award for dedication and service to their school and community. Marilyn Gasienica won First Place in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures, and Rebecca Howe won First Place in Fundamental Word Processing.

Other awards are as follows: Jodi Bushnell-Aleman placed third in both Advanced Word Processing and Advanced Office Systems and Procedures; Claire Holewa placed fourth in Fundamental Word Processing; Alex Lambros and Malorie Para placed second in Computer Animation Team; Miguel Rios placed fourth in Computer Security Concepts; Lindsey Ryon placed second in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures, and Jessy Sandoval placed third in Extemporaneous Speech. Marilyn Gasienica was a Finalist in Advanced Word Processing and Mireya Gutierrez was a Finalist in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures.

The nine qualifiers will be competing at the National BPA Conference in Anaheim, California on May 6-10.
