Oak Forest HS BPA Students Win at Area Competition

25 students qualified for State Competition

Oak Forest High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) Sponsor Connie McSweeney announced that OFHS BPA students qualified 32 BPA students for state competition. The BPA Area competition was held on January 11 at South Suburban College and 13 at DeVry University.

Every student who competed from Oak Forest HS qualified for State in 59 events; 25 students qualified in more than one event. The students who competed brought Oak Forest 20 first place medals, 11 second place ribbons, and 11 third place ribbons. These students will be competing at the State level.

BPA achievements are: Kayla Ballard placed 2nd in Advanced Office Systems & Procedures and Advanced Word Processing. Jianna Barrera placed 3rd in Advanced Office Systems & Procedures, 4th in Advanced Word Processing, and 5th in Parliamentary Procedures. Katelynn Bernal placed 1st in Digital Media Production, 3rd in Fundamental Word Processing, and 5th in Business Meeting Management. Rebecca Boswell placed 1st in all of her events: Payroll Accounting, Fundamental Accounting, and Financial Math & Analysis. Kristina Bowers placed 2nd in Global Marketing Team. Rachel Brenner placed 2nd in Fundamental Accounting and Payroll Accounting, and 3rd in Financial Math & Analysis. Kieran Christianson placed 2nd in Digital Media Production. Tessa Damien placed 1st in Legal Office Procedures, and 3rd in Advanced Word Processing. Samuel Eson placed 3rd in Fundamental Accounting, and 2nd in Accounting Mathematics Concepts. Taylor Ferralez placed 5th in Medical Office Procedures and Peyton Guiseffi placed 2nd in Fundamental Spreadsheet and 5th in Fundamental Word Processing. Jacqueline Griffin placed 1st on the Broadcast News Team. Mikella Klimson placed 1st in all three of her events: Advanced Office Systems & Procedures, Advanced Word Processing, and Business Meeting Management. Matthew Lampasona placed 4th in Banking & Finance, and 5th in Business Meeting Management. Paige Leahy placed 3rd in Desktop Publishing, and 4th in Legal Office Procedures and Bailey Maurer placed 5th in both Banking & Finance and Intermediate Word Processing. Andrew Mays Placed 1st in Small Business Management Team and 5th in Fundamental Accounting. Hannah McMaster placed 1st in Fundamental Word Processing and 4th in Medical Office Procedures and Brianna Mitchell placed 1st in Intermediate Word and 2nd in Basic Office Systems & Procedures. Vita Olivo placed 4th in Desktop Publishing. Emily Papiez placed 1st in Interview Skills, 2nd in Global Marketing Team, 2nd in Administrative Support Concepts, 3rd in Financial Math & Analysis. Haylie Para placed 2nd in Legal Office Procedures and 4th in Basic Office Systems & Procedures. Valerie Perz placed 1st in Administrative Support Team and 3rd Accounting Mathematics Concepts. Edith Ramirez placed 1st in Medical Office Systems & Procedures and 5th in Basic Office Systems and Procedures. Gabe Ramirez placed 1st in both Small Business Management Team and Economic Research--Individual. Zoe Rios placed 1st in Basic Office Systems & Procedures, 2nd in Intermediate Word Processing, and 3rd in Administrative Support Concepts. Osama Shakeel placed 1st in both PC Servicing & Troubleshooting and Fundamentals of Web Design. Magdalene Smith-Stephney placed 1st in Desktop Publishing, 3rd in Prepared Speech, and 5th in Administrative Support Support Concepts. Shaina Spinks placed 1st in Broadcast News Team, and Grace Stahnke placed 1st in Administrative Support Team. Bridget West placed 3rd in Basic Office Systems & Procedures, and 4th in Intermediate Word Processing.
