Oak Forest HS Celebrates Mexican Independence Day

Hispanic Club celebrates with singing and dancing

Oak Forest High School Hispanic Club students (l to r) Jennifer Martinez and Rachel Greenhill, who are wearing traditional costumes, dance a traditional Mexican dance at the annual Mexican Independence Day celebration for Oak Forest High School world language students, hosted by the Hispanic Club.

The Hispanic Club students presented a PowerPoint describing the various historical heroes of the Mexican Independence Day. They also performed for classes and shared some of their many talents by singing and dancing. Afterwards, Hispanic Club students taught Mexican dances like the cumbia to the world language students, who enjoyed the activity immediately. They even managed to get Oak Forest High School Principal Dr. Brad Sikora dancing!

Hispanic Club is sponsored by Oak Forest High School teacher Danica Mathis.
