Oak Forest HS DECA Students Compete at State
Distributive Education Clubs of America State competition was held in Decatur, IL
Oak Forest High School Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) students recently competed at State in various events. Competitors (front row) Mark Losos, Jalil Abdallah, Kayla Livingston, Hannah Jaroszewski, Adrian Solis, Kyra Collins (back row) Jack Gaffney, Don Fraser, and Jacob Griffin had a great showing as a newly established chapter and demonstrated themselves to be a force to be reckoned with in future years.
The Competitive Activities and Awards program within the Illinois Association of DECA provides members in the marketing, management and entrepreneurship curriculum an opportunity to demonstrate outstanding individual and/or team achievement and be recognized for their work.
Oak Forest High School DECA class competed at the 70th anniversary competition in Decatur, IL. Students who competed at State competition were the ones who scored in the top three in the Area competition. All students in attendance competed in two separate role plays and took a Marketing Cluster Exam and an Economics Exam (certificates were awarded to all who scored a 70% or above for each).

Students representing Oak Forest competed in the following events: Don Fraser, Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Competencies in Role Play 1 and Role Play 2; Mark Losos, Quick Serve Restaurant; Adrian Solis, Restaurant and Food Service Management, Competencies in Role Play 2 and Cluster Exam; Hannah Jaroszewski, Principles of Business Management and Administration, Competencies in Role Play 1 and Role Play 2 and Cluster Exam; Kyra Collins, Apparel and Accessories Marketing; Jalil Abdallah, Marketing Management; Jack Gaffney, Automotive Services Marketing, Competencies in Role Play 1 and Role Play 2; Jake Griffin, Automotive Services Marketing, Competencies in Role Play 1 and Role Play 2; Emma Skoubas, Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Competencies in Role Play 1 and Role Play 2; and Kayla Livingston, Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Competencies in Role Play 1 and Role Play 2.
In addition, Kayla Livingston and Emma Skoubas presented their Sports and Entertainment Marketing Promotional Plan on Lollapalooza; and Jalil Abdallh presented his Marketing Campaign on Chipotle Restaurants. Jake Griffin received a medal for his top ten finish for Automotive Services Marketing.
