Oak Forest HS Entrepreneurship Trade Show Champions Announced

Students 'pitched' their product to visiting class members who voted for the best presentation

Congratulations to 2017 OFHS Entrepreneurship Class Trade Show Winners Seniors Rae Mason, 4th place tie; Kelsey Kolecki, 4th place tie; Michael Stogsdill, 1st place; Paris Stirrat, 3rd place; and Sophomore Jack Doolin, 2nd place. Entrepreneurship teacher Jim Matlon was very proud of these winning trade show presenters. In the trade show presentation, students reenacted what a trade show would be like. Each student selected a product and then presented it to a visiting classes of students as if they were at a trade show. In essence, they pitched their product to each visiting class member. Each class then voted for the person they felt gave them the best “pitch.” The fourth place tied winners both pitched hotels. Rae Mason pitched the Four Seasons Hotel. He felt that “letting people know it is the best hotel outside of the Marriott and the Hilton” was the best strategy to pitch his hotel. Kelsey Kolecki pitched the Hilton. She said, “The Hilton has a lot of locations. In Chicago, there is one located with views of the Lake and Grant Park.” First place winner Michael Stogsdill pitched a store he knows well: REI. He said, “I like the outdoors a lot and I like clothing fitted for the outdoors.” Outside of school, Stogsdill hunts and camps; as a result, he shops at REI to get the equipment he needs. His personal experience at this store was noted by the students who voted and they voted for him as the best trade presentation. Third place winner Paris Stirrat chose to pitch Whole Foods. He said, “Whole Foods is better than any other store on the market.” Some of the benefits of shopping at Whole Foods that Stirrat mentioned were that Whole Foods sells minimally processed foods, and sells no cloned animal meat or milk. Second place winner Jack Doolin pitched Delta Airlines. He said he pitched it because it was the most famous airline. He said, “Delta Airlines is the richest and most popular of airlines. They are the only airline on the Fortune 500 list. Their amenities such as free onboard wifi, are great!” Congratulations to all of the OFHS Entrepreneurship Class Trade Show Winners!
