Oak Forest HS FCCLA Students Win Big at State
Awards were won in Fashion Apparel Display and Fondant Cake Decorating events
Oak Forest High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) students Diamond Cooks, Karlee Knudson, and Qamar Saleh won awards at the State FCCLA competition held in Springfield.
Diamond Cooks and Qamar Saleh took First Place in the Fashion Apparel Display competition. Their display featured a glamorous day and night clothing combination. The evening wear was teal and featured sparkles; the day wear featured a furry vest and fashionably ripped jeans. Shoes and accessories rounded out their display. They defeated 25 other State competitors to receive a Second Place State overall medal.
Karlee Knudsen took Second Place for the Fondant Cake Decorating event. Karlee’s cake was a triple layer cake that was movie themed. The first layer was a movie roll, the second layer featured stars and the third layer mimicked a popcorn bucket. All of the cake layers were covered with fondant and colored according to the design. According to FCCLA Sponsor Ms. Kristina Blair, “Karlee competed against approximately 30 other participants and did an excellent job!”
