Oak Forest HS Inducts New NHS Members

Oak Forest High School recently inducted 87 new members into its National Honor Society, according to Oak Forest High School NHS Adviser Kelly Henry. The ceremony included remarks by NHS President Josephine Horan about the Four Goals of the National Honor Society. The 1st Vice President Tara Neylon talked about scholarship, the 2nd Vice President Tara Zarembski spoke about service, Secretary Emma Cooke spoke about leadership, and Treasurer Brianna Mitchell spoke about character. Principal Dr. Brad Sikora and Assistant Principal Jane Dempsey guided the candle lighting ceremony and presented the honorees with National Honor Society pins and membership cards. Band Director Nick Rojek was the honored Keynote speaker at the ceremony. He was chosen by the students because he was a person whom they consider to be an outstanding role model for the four principals of the National Honor Society: Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. Mr. Rojek is a graduate of VanderCook College of Music and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology through American College of Education. Present at the ceremony to congratulate the inductees was Board Secretary Evelyn Gleason.
