Oak Forest HS Inducts New World Language NHS Members
OFHS has two World Language Societies - the Société Honoraire de Français and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica

Oak Forest High School inducted 24 members into the World Language National Honor Society on March 13. The World Language National Honor Society is comprised of two world language honor societies at Oak Forest High School: the Société Honoraire de Français, and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. Students earn entrance into the World Language National Honor Society by completing four semesters of French or Spanish, holding a cumulative A- average or higher for French/Spanish work, including the grading period of candidacy, and a B- average in all other subjects. Members must be current students actively engaged in the study of French or Spanish. For History of the Société Honoraire de Français, Madame Suzanne Lappe led the ceremonies and Abby Smith led the ceremonies for the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica.
Oak Forest High School Spanish teacher Michael Blakley said, “It’s no easy task to get into the World Language National Honor Society. I am very proud of the students who committed to the task of studying Spanish and French and achieved that goal.”

District 228 World Language Supervisor Maureen Miller welcomed the candidates and their families to the ceremony. For History of the Société Honoraire de Français, Madame Suzanne Lappe led the led the candle-lighting ceremony and the pledge and Briana Alarcon and Breanna Horvath led the candle-lighting ceremony and the pledge for the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica.
The Inductees for the Société Honoraire de Français are: Sarah Boblink, Breanna Jozaitis, Jasmin Mata, and Agustin Tilca Martinez. Inductees for the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica are: Yosra Abdulwahid, Adriana Becerra, Ryan Chismark, Tonia Francis, Madison Greenhill, Flynn Hartigan, Ryan Jerkins, Molly Kiley, Sierra Maziur, Myriam Melidona, Gustavo Nabte, Alexandria Nielsen, Frank Pedroza McBride, Micael Porto, Briana Quiroz, Valerie Ramirez, Briana Rodriguez, Amber Savage, Victor Vigo, and Grace Young.

Members of the Oak Forest High School World Language Faculty were present to congratulate students. OFHS World Language faculty members are: Maria Arellano, John Stevens, Danica Mathis, Michael Blakley, Suzanne Lappe, and Maureen Miller, World Language Department Chair, who expressed her appreciation for the ceremony. Miller acknowledged the teachers who guided these students. She said, “Thank you ever so much for all you did to allow these students this opportunity, and for all you have contributed to their success her at OFHS.”
