Oak Forest High School Junior Lynette Latocha didn’t mean to set a school record, but she did when she made a 5’4” qualifying high jump which earned her a ticket into the State Final round last weekend at the IHSA Girls Track and Field State Meet. Coach Scott Priestman and Assistant Coach Stacy Faulkner were elated. According to Priestman, “The weather was supposed to be nasty so it may have been delayed. She had to jump a qualifying height today to make it to finals.” Lynette said, “I had hurt my back, so I wasn’t getting the bend I normally do when I jump and I was hitting the pole with my legs a lot. So I was surprised when I jumped 5’4”! I just focused on what I had to do, took a deep breath and closed my eyes, and then tried my best.” Lynette did well in her final round and placed 10th place in State with a jump of 5’3”. Congratulations, Lynette!
