Oak Forest HS Key Club Collects Toys for Medical Team

The medical team travels to South America twice a year to perform surgeries on children with physical deformities

Oak Forest High School Key Club members collected toys as a service project for a medical team who travels to Columbia, South America, twice a year to perform surgeries on children who were born with physical deformities. During the recovery process after the medical procedure, children are given a stuffed animal to comfort them.

One of the members of this medical team is ’04 alumna Diana (Pinto) Penn who travels with the medical team as a nurse. Diana is the one who reached out to OFHS Key Club Sponsor Gary Andruch and asked if the Key Club would be interested in helping them collect some much needed stuffed animals that could be used throughout the holiday season. The Key Club members worked very hard to collect toys for this worthy cause. They collected over 200 stuffed animals from students, faculty and staff. Mr. Andruch said, “For more information about the medical trips Dina (Pinto) Penn makes, see the incredible before and after transformations of their patients, look at the following link: https://replayapp.com/v/Lsqw8dRBLs/
