Oak Forest High School Social Psychology teacher Mike Daluga’s 2nd hour class proudly displays the winning banners from the “Be a Patient’s Lucky Charm/Pennies for Patients” campaign, for which they were the classroom winner. Mr. DaLuga’s class was the winner in the hot contest sponsored by the Oak Forest High School Key Club, who teamed up with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for the fundraiser called “Be a Patient’s Lucky Charm/Pennies for Patients.” The OFHS Key Club sponsored a competition between 2nd hour classes within the school to raise money to help support kids diagnosed with Leukemia and Lymphoma. Each class donated pennies for the cause and the class that donated the most pennies won a pizza or a donut party! Mr. DaLuga’s class raised $200 dollars which is a lot of pennies! OFHS Key Club Sponsor Gary Andruch said, “Normally we raise $800-$900. This year we are proud to announce that OFHS raised over $1,200, which is the most to date. This says a lot about our students and our faculty. Thanks again for helping out a great cause.” Classes battled it out in a good-natured way throughout the month of March, keeping in their minds that all of the proceeds went to benefit those kids battling cancer through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The 2nd place class was Mr. Rojek’s band class and 3rd place was tied between Mr. McDonough’s American Government class and Mrs. Cotrano’s Language Arts class. Mr. Andruch feels these runners-up also deserve a treat for their great generosity. OFHS Key Club Members are: Sarah Abdulwahid, Dahlia Al-Sheikh, Sarah Aguilar, Angel Beraya (Treasurer), Reneen Betouni, Maria Carillo (Secretary), Francis Chavez, Madison Cline-Laycoax, Savannah Davis, Franchesca Dizon, Angelique Flores, Mackenzie Griffin, Katherine Holewa, Luke Holewa, Jessica Krauss, Nia Lewis, Emma Loeding, Michelle Madej (President), Sarrah Master, Abigail Mata, Alexandra Monerrosas, Shruti Nayi, Kyle Neylon, Ayomide Osinowo, Neveen Rafidi, Celeste Ramos, Mirack Slaughter, Sophia Theofanopolous, Agustin Tilca-Martinez, and Marisa Toschi.
