Oak Forest HS Mathletes Have Historic Night
The Senior Mathletes swept all four of their events

Oak Forest High School Mathletes Nigere Epps, Darla Thomas, Nate McGovern, Matt Sinwelski, Brandon Bell, and Kirstin Birk hold the Conference Champion medals they won on the Asympote team. Coach Sue Poncin announced that the Bengal Mathletes finished a close second in the SSC Conference meet, held December 7 at Hillcrest High School. The Mathlete Seniors had a historical night, sweeping all four of their events. Conference champions were as follows: Senior Asymptotes: Brandon Bell, Kirstin Birk, Ni'Gere Epps, Nate McGovern, Darla Thomas and Matt Sinweski; Senior Solving Triangles: Patrick Cooke, Ivan Czajkowski, Nate McGovern, Hannah McNaughton, Alejandro Rivas and Matt Sinwelski; Senior Pre-Calculus Group: Amir Al-Sheikh, Kirstin Birk, Ni'Gere Epps, Nate McGovern and Matt Sinwelski; Junior/Senior Oral Presentation: Senior Amir Al-Sheikh with Junior Ryan Jerkins. Other event champions were Carter Hamrin and John Pegues in the fresh/soph Oral Presentation. Some students had Impressive individual performances earning perfect papers. They were: Seniors Darla Thomas and Matt Sinwelski, Junior Faith Skrzelowski, and Freshman Canyon Novick. Seniors Nate McGovern and Junior Megan O'Keefe led the team with two perfect papers each! The Mathletes team is headed by Head Coach Sue Poncin, and Assistant Coaches Mel Gengo and Ken Valiska. Great job Bengal Mathletes!
