Oak Forest HS Mathletes Continue Their Winning Streak

Perfect scores turned in by several students

The Oak Forest High School Bengal Mathletes continued their winning streak at Alan Shepard High School. The Sophomore Geometry Group, consisting of Kirsten Birk, Patrick Cooke, Ni’Gere Epps and Darla Thomas, dominated the competition with their third perfect 50 in a row. Other outstanding performances with perfect papers came from Seniors Liz Hendzel, Benita Joseph, Nick Kunnath and Joe Muller; Junior Adam Kral; Sophomores Ivan Czajkowski, Nate McGovern, Emily Papiez, Darla Thomas, Patrick Cooke, Kirsten Birk and Matthew Sinwelski; and Freshman Lynette Latocha.

Oak Forest High School Mathletes compete in a variety of written, oral, and group competitions. Students compete at their grade level on a variety of math topics. There are four levels of competition: freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior.

The Mathletes team is coached by Head Coach Ms. Sue Poncin, and Assistant Coaches Ms. Mel Gengo and Mr. Ken Valiska.
