Oak Forest HS Music Department Hits the Stage at Disney World
The OFHS Band and Choir recently performed for an international crowd at the Marketplace Stage in Disney World
The Oak Forest High School Band and Choir recently performed for an international crowd at the Marketplace Stage in Disney World. The musical groups performed a number of Disney pieces including “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana, “You Will Be Found” from Dear Evan Hansen, and “Disney’s Friendship Favorites” by Billingsley. They also performed some other selections such as, “A Childhood Remembered” by Gallante. Also on the whirlwind trip, the students attended two unique Disney Performance Workshops where they learned, under the guidance of an experienced Disney teaching artist, how to get the most out of rehearsals and how to execute a pitch-perfect performance while honing their sight-reading skills. The students examined the skills, attitudes and priorities essential to musical excellence. This 2.5-hour workshop culminated in a recording of the Disney ensembles OFHS performed, accompanied by footage from a classic Disney animated film. According to Band Director Nick Rojek, “It was hands down one of the greatest parts of the trip!” The OFHS bands were directed by Nick Rojek and the OFHS choirs were directed by Victor Pazik.
