Oak Forest HS Selected for Operation Teen Safe Driving Grant
"5 to Drive" will be this year's theme
Oak Forest High School Associate Principal Dan Dunne announced today that Oak Forest High School has been selected to receive the Operation Teen Safe Driving Grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation in cooperation with the Ford Motor Company for the sixth year in a row.
Dunne said that the theme this year will be “5 to Drive” and will focus on five safe driving habits. The “5 to Drive” habits that the program will be focusing on are: no cell phones, buckle up, no alcohol, no speeding, and no extra passengers. These habits are ones that teens should avoid while in a car.
Last year, Oak Forest High School took first place amongst the schools in our region for the program. As a result, OFHS won additional grant money to implement Post-Prom activities, which is the fifth year in a row that OFHS received that award. Also, Oak Forest High School was invited to attend a Ford Motor Company Fund’s Driving Skills for Life Ride and Drives which is an opportunity for teens to learn critical driving techniques and skills from professional drivers.
