Oak Forest HS Sisters Selected for ILMEA Honors Band and Choirs
Emily and Audrey Cooper chosen from approximately 2,500 students
Oak Forest High School sisters Emily and Audrey Cooper were selected to represent Oak Forest High School in the ILMEA District 1 Honors Band and Jazz and Concert Choirs. Senior Vocalist Emily Cooper was selected for both the ILMEA Jazz and Concert Choirs, which is very prestigious. She had to audition with several musical pieces and was really nervous. She said, “The audition went better than I expected but I was incredibly nervous. This is proof that hard work pays off!” Sophomore Trombonist Audrey Cooper was selected for the ILMEA Honors Band. Audrey agreed with sister Emily that the audition process was nerve wracking. She said, “I was really nervous but the judges weren’t facing me so it was okay.” According to Oak Forest High School Band Director Nick Rojek, “Each year there are approximately 2500 students that audition for only 100 spots in band and 200 spots for choir. Congratulations girls, what an honor!”
