Oak Forest HS Soccer Team Holds Benefit for Alumnus Player

Both the OFHS Drumline and choir performed at the benefit

Oak Forest High School Head Coach Kieran Byrne and Assistant Coach Stacey Lane surround OFHS Alumnus Pablo Flores with support recently at the Oak Forest vs. Eisenhower game, where the Oak Forest High School Boys’ Soccer program held a cancer benefit night to aid Pablo Flores, affectionately known as “Pa”. Flores, who graduated from OFHS in 2016 and St. Damian’s before that, learned last year that he had osteosarcoma in his heel, which is a malignant tumor of the bone. He had a below the knee amputation and is undergoing chemotherapy. Flores, soon to turn 19 years old, is the oldest of three siblings and has always been an avid soccer player. Oak Forest High School Head Soccer Coach Kieran Byrne said, “He is just amazing in his attitude toward winning this battle [against cancer].” To support Flores and his ongoing fight against his cancer, the OFHS drumline performed at the Eisenhower game as well as OFHS choir members. The Flores family is holding a benefit at Gaelic park on Sunday, November 19. This benefit would help alleviate some hardships that have accompanied this cancer diagnosis. Tickets for the benefit are $15 for students and $30 for adults and can be obtained by making a check payable to “Pa’s Posse.” Benefit forms are available from Coach Byrne (kbyrne@bhsd228.com). Come and help this vivacious young man the opportunity to get back on the soccer team, continue working hard in college and to graduate! Your support is appreciated.
