Oak Forest HS Speech Duo Heading to Sectional Competition
Kika Arias & Dawn Lubaton will compete in Dramatic Duet Acting
An Oak Forest High School Speech duo is heading to Sectional competition this weekend at Reavis High School. The powerhouse duo of Senior Kika Arias and Junior Dawn Lubaton will be competing in Dramatic Duet Acting. The duo took Fourth Place at Regionals to qualify for Sectional competition. Oak Forest High School Head Speech Coach Kevin Farrell said, “Kika and Dawn work well as a Dramatic Duet Acting pair because they rehearse their piece constantly and fine-tune the details. They realize that perfection is a goal and not a destination. At the same time, they let themselves have fun.”
Arias will be entered in Radio Speaking as well. At the Regional Speech meet at Eisenhower High School, Arias took First Place to become Tournament Champion in Radio Speaking. Coach Farrell said, “Kika is a remarkable performer in Radio Speaking. She reads the morning announcements, which gives her extra practice, and everyone who has heard her knows that she reads fluidly and adds inflection instinctively. The event caters to these strengths of hers.”
