Oak Forest HS Students Get Real-World Business Experience at Microsoft

After a tour and presentation, students challenged to 'sell' a product to the group

Oak Forest High School students traveled to the OakBrook Microsoft store for a real-world business experience. The field trip was sponsored by Junior Achievement. At the Microsoft store, students were given a store tour before being taken into the presentation theatre where Microsoft taught students about the company and the store products. After a delicious Potbelly’s lunch, the students got into groups to research a Microsoft product sold in the store. Oak Forest High School student Eric Niewinski said, “The representative gave us packets of materials about Microsoft. Then we were shown around the store and talked more about the company.” An interesting part of the trip, Niewinski said, was when the team had to give presentations. “We had to take technology from the store and ‘sell’ it to the rest of the class. We chose a Surface Pro and our points to sell it to the class were that it was a cross between a laptop and a tablet, it was portable, it had a good battery, and it was powerful.” Oak Forest High School Project Manager Megan Couture said, “All the groups did a great job with their presentations and I’m sure they will have bright futures in the corporate world!”
