Oak Forest HS Students Show Off Apple Pies

Oak Forest High School Seniors (l to r) Gabe Rodriguez, Jenny Colander, Sophomores Mary O’Callaghan (front), Justin Starks, and Senior Luke Colangelo display their rustic apple pies, prepared during the pies and tarts unit in their Baking Basics class. Rustic apple pies, similar to fruit tarts, are named such because they have no top crust and lack the polish of a pie with a top crust or lattice work. However rustic the pie looked, they tasted delicious and were especially good hot out of the oven with a touch of vanilla ice cream on top. Baking Basics is taught by Oak Forest High School teacher Vicky Vogel.
