Oak Forest HS Students Take Gold in FCCLA State Competition

Alyvia Dennis won the Cookie Decorating event and Jessica Andriola won the Fashion Apparel Display competition

Oak Forest High School Seniors Alyvia Dennis (left) and Jessica Andriola (right) both took home a gold medal at the FCCLA State Competition, held recently in Springfield.

Alyvia Dennis competed in the Cookie Decorating event. Her task was to design a cookie for a baby shower and she designed a cookie that looked like a baby’s bottle, decorated with flavored buttercream icing. Around the cookie bottle, she placed elements that coordinated with the theme, such as the building blocks. She competed against 45 other participants and scored a 97.5 out of 100 to win her gold medal.

Jessica Andriola participated in the Fashion Apparel Display competition. She designed an elegant display of evening wear and accessories that would coordinate with this evening wear, like earrings and a necklace. To increase the elegance of the display, she also placed a floral element in her display. Jessica competed against approximately 35 other participants and earned a 98 out of 100 to win her gold medal.

Oak Forest High School FCCLA Adviser Kristina Blair said, “I am so proud of how well Jessica and Alyvia did in their FCCLA competitions. Their hard work and practice paid off and the judges were really impressed with both of them. They should be very proud of themselves.”
