Oak Forest HS Students Volunteer at Feed My Starving Children

Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit organization that provides nutritionally complete meals for malnourished children

Oak Forest High School Seniors Marissa Martin and Alyvia Dennis scoop nutrients and ingredients into bags to be sealed for starving children at Feed My Starving Children in Aurora, Illinois. The girls went with the Oak Forest High School FCCLA classes to volunteer their time to help pack food for hungry children around the world.

Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit organization that provides nutritionally complete meals specifically formulated for malnourished children. The organization accepts donations which fund meal ingredients and then volunteers hand pack the meals. Meals are then donated to Feed My Starving Children food partners around the world in 70 countries, and kids are fed and lives are saved!

The food that the students packed was simple food but really filling. They packed rice, protein, vegetables, and soy. The FCCLA students tasted it and said it tasted like salty fried rice.

Oak Forest High School Senior Nina Brown said, “It was really fun working at Feed My Starving Children. They made packing the boxes like a game so that we would compete against each other and pack even more. We packed over 200 boxes.”

Students who contributed to the effort were Jessica Andriola, Jared Bremer, Nina Brown, Alyssa D’Angelo, Alyvia Dennis, Richard Echeverria, Alissa Enriquez, Damien Lauder, Marissa Martin, Michael Moreland, Daminiben Patel, Cole Silha, Grace Stahnke, and Valeria Zavala. Oak Forest High School Teachers Kristina Blair (also the FCCLA Sponsor), Lauren Brazel, and Scott Priestman, also donated their time to the cause.
