Oak Forest HS Volleyball Team Hosts 'Volley for the Cure'
Oak Forest HS and TF North HS teamed up to fight breast cancer
The Oak Forest High School Volleyball Team hosted their annual “Volley for the Cure” night September 29. Oak Forest High School and their competitors, TF North High School, teamed up to fight against breast cancer.
“Volley for the Cure” was created as a way to honor and celebrate the heroic fight people face against breast cancer. The match on that evening was dedicated to all the men and women who have been touched by breast cancer with the hopes that this disease will one day be cured. According to Oak Forest High School Volleyball Coach Abby Nelson, “We are honoring [people stricken by breast cancer] by dedicating the game to them and also reading their names before the national anthem.”
Oak Forest High School supported the event in many ways. Coach Nelson said, “Players and coaches wore matching pink t-shirts. The gym was decorated with pink balloons and streamers.” All split-the-pot money was donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
