Oak Forest HS World History Students Construct Edible Castles
The castles had to be well fortified, show people that lived on a manor under feudalism, and display some of the middle ages weapons
Oak Forest High School sophomores Myckenzie Conway, Julia Tobin, and Rhianna Sumrall (not pictured) pose with the winning edible middle ages castle they made in World History Class. The girls competed in a contest held between world history classes by OFHS teachers Mr. Gary Andruch, Mr. John Elifson, and Mr. Jeff Kelly. The castles and manors that students entered into the contest had strict guidelines. They had to meet the criteria of a well fortified castle; show the people that lived on a manor under feudalism, and display some of the middle ages weapons. All of these guidelines had to be constructed with some sort of food. World History classes voted for the best castle or manor. The one that Conway, Tobin, and Sumrall created was built out of graham crackers, teddy grahams, chocolate chips, frosting, chocolate bars, and Starburst candies.
