Oak Forest High School Girls' Soccer Team Competes in PepsiCo Showdown

The PepsiCo Showdown is one of the biggest high school tournaments in the country

Oak Forest High School Soccer team members Christina Majercak, Grace Rollins, Clare Doolin, Alyssa Gilman, and Taylor Blokel smile for WGN’s camera. The girls were promoting the PepsiCo Showdown tournament.

The entire starting lineup was invited to appear on The Morning Show. They, along with girls from other soccer teams competing in the soccer tournament, competed in contests and earned various prizes.

The PepsiCo Showdown is one of the biggest high school tournaments in the country; there were over 260 teams from all over the nation represented. The appearance on the WGN news was a part of publicizing this huge tournament.

In the PepsiCo Showdown, the soccer team played four tournament games in addition to the two games already on the school schedule during that tournament week! OFHS Soccer Coach Hanah Shehaiber said that the girls showed “perseverance and dedication. We performed well in two games. The team was positive and enjoyed the experience of being in a soccer atmosphere with different levels of play in one location.”

The starters involved in the tournament were: Grace Rollins, Christina Majercak, Taylor Blokel, Nicole Tucker, Mckenzie Gleason, Ella Brown, Jenna Brown, Clare Doolin, Alyssa Gilman, Morgan Anderson, and Yasie Matthews.
