Oak Forest Remembers Former Police Officer
Funeral bunting on City Hall is in honor of Don Monchunski.

The City of Oak Forest Tuesday paid tribute with funeral bunting on City Hall, in honor of former part-time police officer Don Monchunski.
Monchunski, who served on the Oak Forest Police Department in the late 1970s and early 1980s, died April 9 at 80 years old. His surviving wife Helen was also a dispatcher for the department, according to the City’s Facebook page.
The father of three also served as Oak Forest Park District police officer and civil defense director, according to his obituary. He was a veteran of the United States Army and also an avid fisherman.
