Oak Forest Woman Attends 700 Consecutive White Sox Home Games

Laura Williams was recognized for attending her 700th straight Chicago White Sox game over the weekend.

OAK FOREST, IL - An Oak Forest woman continues to define baseball loyalty. This past weekend, Laura Williams attended her 700th consecutive Chicago White Sox home game, a streak that dates back to 2008 and the days of Ken Griffey Jr., Jim Thome and Bobby Jenks.

It also dates back to the prime of White Sox pitching legend Mark Buehrle, who was honored the same weekend with the retirement of his number 56.

But while the weekend will be remembered for Buehrle and a ceremony that drew more than 40,000 fans to Guaranteed Rate Field on Saturday, the White Sox still had time to recognize Williams’ achievement. She was presented a trophy commemorating her 700 game streak (which started on Aug. 13, 2008) and a visit from “Southpaw,” the team’s mascot, at her seats during Friday’s contest against the Oakland Athletics that was her 700th straight.
