'Oh God, We Better Call': 911 Call in Oak Forest Double Murder-Suicide
Coworkers worried for Margaret O'Leary-Joost's wellbeing called 911 panicked.

Audio of the 911 call urging police to visit a familyβs Oak Forest home reveals a coworker concerned over what βlooks like it could be oil or bloodβ trickling out of the garage of where police later discovered a double murder-suicide.
ββWe were like, βOh, God! We better call,ββ the caller told the dispatcher.
Police arriving to the scene of 6600 Courtney Drive found David Joost, 54, who they determined strangled his wife Margaret OβLeary-Joost, 55, and their 18-year-old autistic son Daniel in their beds, before killing himself in the garage.

OβLeary-Joostβs coworkers visited the home Tuesday, worried that she hadnβt shown up for work Monday or the past Friday. David Joost turned to desperate measures after losing a job. He had recently started his own business, House of David, providing pop/rock music from the 1960s to present day. Prior to that, he worked in sales and marketing for 30 years, according to his LinkedIn profile. Police said he had recently lost a job in Orland Park. He lists a position as general manager of a software company as his most recent work.
Joost also was a singer and musician who played local gigs and sang at Zion Lutheran Church in Tinley Park. Pastor Rev. David Peters recalled Joost as a βhappy personβ who freely and passionately contributed his talents to the community.

βDave was a happy person to help facilitate whatever was taking place, not just for Daniel, but for others in the group,β Peters told Patch, β... which almost makes this all the more confusing and disturbing. Someone doing so much positive, it doesnβt make sense.
The couple has one remaining daughter, 20-year-old Kathryn or βKatieβ, who was away at Millikin University when the killings occurred. The community was spurred to action by the devastating loss, with friends generating a GoFundMe in her name. It has raised $43,000 as of Friday afternoon.
