Property Taxes Go Up For Oak Forest Residents: City
Oak Forest officials last week approved a balanced budget that includes a slight property tax increase for residents.
OAK FOREST, IL — Oak Forest residents will see an increase in their property tax bill, after officials last week passed a budget that includes a jump in tax rate.
On April 25, the Oak Forest City Council signed off on the budget for the new fiscal year, with what officials called a "modest" 2.5 percent property tax increase, according to a release.
"All increases in general operations will be funded by increases in sales and income taxes," officials said.

The annual budget includes capital projects totaling $10.8 million. Major initiatives include the 2023 road program and the water main replacement project.
The water and sewer fund reports a surplus of $428,000, which is necessary to build reserves and fund capital projects.
