Prosecutor: Oak Forest Man Assaulted Granddaughter's 8-Year-Old Friend
Prosecutor says child was granddaughter's friend. Judge orders electronic monitoring for man and no contact with persons under 18.

A 78-year-old man appeared Friday in Bridgeview bond court on charges that he sexually abused his granddaughter’s 8-year-old playmate.
Edward Olejniczak, of Oak Forest, has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child. The abuse allegedly occurred before May 27, the day of the grandfather’s arrest.
Cook County Judge Matthew Carmody set conditional bail at $100,000 with 10-percent to apply.

The judge also ordered Olejniczak to wear an electronic ankle bracelet if he’s able to bond out, to have no contact with the child or the child’s family. He was also ordered not to be around anyone under age 18.
The assistant public defender informed that judge that Olejniczak’s young granddaughter resided in the home.

Carmody said unless electronic monitoring could be implemented, either he or his minor granddaughter would have to move.
“If he bonds out he has to be on electronic monitoring. If he doesn’t have a home he doesn’t qualify,” the judge said. “I’m not going to consider any mitigation for the minor living at home.
The address where the alleged incident occurred was not read into the court record.
Olejniczak is due back in court on June 17.
