The Oak Forest Veterans Commission will host re-enactments of the War of 1812 and the Napoleonic wars on Saturday, September 27 and Sunday, September 28 at the Oak Fest grounds, 157th and Lorel Avenue. Although the camp site will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., battles will take place at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
At the camp site, visitors are invited to find out what life was like in 1812 by interacting with the re-enactors, who will host a period dance with caller for the public on Saturday at 7 p.m. In addition, visitors can learn how coffee is made from bean to brew and watch as a pewter caster creates his wares, which will be available for purchase.
