Residents Invited to Public Meeting to Discuss Mowing of Forest Preserve Land

City hopes to reach common ground on residents mowing forest preserve land.

The City of Oak Forest will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, September 9 at 7 p.m. with representatives of the Forest Preserve District of Cook County (FPDCC) to discuss the prohibition against Oak Forest residents mowing forest preserve land that lies next to their homes.

β€œThis is a real issue for many of our residents considering much of our land lies adjacent to forest preserves,” said Mayor Hank Kuspa. β€œA number of residents have been ticketed for mowing forest preserve property so our goal is to reach a solution that is amenable for residents and the forest preserve.”

FPDCC representatives, including General Superintendent Arnold Randall and his staff, will be at the meeting to answer questions and explain the district’s policies related to mowing of forest preserve land. Cook County Commissioner Joan Patricia Murphy, Oak Forest’s representative on the Cook County board and the Forest Preserve District board, also has been invited to attend the meeting.
