'Rose Walk' Will Benefit People With Disabilities

The Blue Cap and Friends Association will hold their annual event on September 10 at the Midlothian Meadows Forest Preserve.

MIDLOTHIAN, IL -- A yearly walk that benefits adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities will come to Midlothian next month. Those involved with the Blue Island-based Blue Cap & Friends Association will walk in memory of longtime Blue Cap employee Rose Fanucce for the ninth consecutive year. Fanucce worked directly with individuals who receive services and support at Blue Cap.

This year, the "Rose Walk for Blue Cap" will begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10 at the Midlothian Meadows Forest Preserve at 155th and Pulaski. Registration begins that morning at 9 a.m.

According to a news release, the event will feature raffles and family activities "all while enjoying a great day with family and friends."

There will also be food, music and entertainment for non-walkers such as a DJ, kids games, an inflatable jumper, face painting and fabulous raffles.

The proceeds from the Rose Walk will be used to provide year-round fun activities like dances, picnics and holiday dinners for more than 100 participants in Blue Cap’s seven programs, all of which serve individuals from throughout Chicago and its suburbs.
