OAK LAWN, IL -- The Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn recently acquired a new exhibition titled “Sun, Earth, Universe”. The exhibition was created by the National Informal STEM Education Network (NISE Net) in collaboration with NASA.

“We are excited to have gotten this exhibit from the Discovery Center Museum in Rockford,” said Adam Woodworth, the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn’s Executive Director. “Learning about the Earth and our place in the solar system is just one of the many things children will learn from this exhibit.”

This exhibit will have visitors of all ages exploring the answers to questions such as “how is the Earth changing?” by comparing satellite images and “what is life like on other planets?” by using blocks. Visitors can also have a look at data not naturally visible to the human eye with help from tools including a UV light and a magnifying glass.

There are several hands-on, interactive opportunities presented from this exhibit, including the ability to design, build and test your own 3-D spacecraft model containing necessary tools for a NASA mission. After exploring the exhibit, visitors can play the “Your Mission to Space” board game to see how their new knowledge helps them plan a space mission.
