Sam Buca's Executive Chef Visits Bremen HS Culinary Classes

Executive Chef Mike Flamini demonstrated his cooking skills to the Culinary Arts students

Bremen High School Graduate, Mike Flamini (class of 1997), Executive Chef at Sam Buca’s in Palos Heights, demonstrated his cooking skills to the Bremen High School Culinary Arts students. Chef Mike started the visit with a question and answer session that include information about his background, formal training, traditional recipes he loves and how to uses and finds the finest ingredients. Then Chef Mike guided the students through preparing a variety of traditional Italian dishes from start to finish. Under the watchful eye of Chef Mike, the students created Chicken Vesuvio and Sun-dried Tomato Risotto. It was a taste of southern Italy in every bite!

“It was great to return to my high school! I enjoyed working with the students and look forward to returning in the future,” stated Chef Mike.

The students enjoyed having Chef Mike and asked great questions about his past, current job, and career opportunities that the culinary arts field can offer.

“Every culinary student worked diligently to prepare the mouthwatering meal. I was very impressed at their maturity and excitement. It was so nice to see a former ’97 graduate back in the Bremen halls!” said Family and Consumer Science teacher Ms. Tanya Mack (also a ’97 graduate).
