Senior Housing Community Coming Soon To Oak Forest: City

The Oak Forest City Council has approved the plans for a 55-apartment facility near 151st and Cicero Avenue.

OAK FOREST, IL — Construction is expected to begin next year on a 55-apartment senior housing community in Oak Forest, officials said Wednesday.

As part of the plan, the City will annex property in unincorporated Cook County on the northern boundaries, to allow for Carefree Development, LLC to develop, construct, and operate a senior housing community to serve independent, moderate-income seniors at 4758 W. 151st St.

The proposed development will be a three-story structure offering 41 one-bedroom and 14 two-bedroom units.

"Per a recent housing study conducted for Oak Forest, the proposed new senior development will provide a much-needed housing facility for our residents," said Director of Community & Economic Development Ed Cage.

The project’s residential common areas will include a spacious lobby, community area, warming kitchen, and dining room as well as a health center, lounge, and library.

The annexation will also require the extension of sewer and water mains, which will provide the infrastructure for potential new commercial development along the northern boundaries, Cage said.
