Seven Oak Forest HS Students Qualifiy for BPA National Competition

BPA National Competition to be held in Boston

Oak Forest High School Business Professionals of America Sponsor Connie McSweeney announced that Oak Forest High School BPA students brought home 15 State medals and qualified 7 students for National Competition at the BPA State Competition that was held on March 3 and 4. Special honors went to Shane Bednarek and Jessica Freudinger who received the Statesman Torch Award for dedication and service to their school and community. They also qualified for and will be receiving the Ambassador Torch Award at the National level. There were two 1st Place awards - Kayla Ballard placed 1st in Basic Office Systems and Procedures; and Kaitlyn Nowicki placed 1st in Medical Office Procedures. Other awards were as follows: Alex Lopez placed 2nd in Basic Office Systems and Procedures; Shane Bednarek placed 2nd in Database Applications; and Billy Tseung placed 2nd in Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications. Mikella Klimson placed 3rd in Advanced Word Processing, and 4th place in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures. Also, Jessica Freudinger placed 4th in Advanced Word Processing. These students all qualified for National competition in May. Other award winners were: Jessica Freudinger placed 6th in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures; Kaitlyn Crnich placed 6th in Database Applications; Ana Lambros placed 6th in Desktop Publishing; and Nicholas Parente placed 6th in Fundamental Word Processing; Kaitlyn Nowicki placed 7th in Banking and Finance; Jimmy Walsh placed 8th in Basic Office Systems and Procedures; and Abbey Anderson placed 8th in Presentation Management-Individual. The National Qualifiers will compete in Boston in May.
