Oak Forest Flag Football League Goes Pink

Coaches, players, spectators, cheerleaders and referees wore pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness during the Oak Forest Park District Flag Football League and Cheerleading Senior Night and Pink Campaign weekend.

Just like the NFL, the Oak Forest Flag Football League and its families went pink this weekend in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Over the weekend of Oct. 13-14, players, coaches and fans all got in on the act, wearing pink during games and even making donations to the Cancer Support Center in both Homewood and Mokena.

Also, along with collecting donations during halftime, the cheerleaders put on a halftime show with a giant pink ribbon.

"Our support for breast cancer started from the Oak Forest Flag Football Association," said Eagles Coach Chris Holubecki. "Our team eagerly supports this league in anything that teaches our players respect, personal health, and personal awareness to our terrific sisters, mothers, grandmothers, and our extended families, which we call 'the Eagles.'

“I believe personal health being taught to our league is a great message. Hopefully, this message will get our friends and families to be more proactive about their health and pass this along to the children."

Holubecki wasn't the only coach getting in on the pink act. Cowboys coach Joe Mackessy also donned a pink shirt.
