St. Baldrick's Day Returns to Blarney Stone Pub

The bar will welcome those brave enough to go bald for a good cause, March 28 from 2 to 6 p.m.

Blarney Stone Pub staff have their hearts set on a big goal: beat the total raised at last year’s St. Baldrick’s Day event.

The 2014 event saw 35 shavees and raised a total of $16,338 toward research for a treatment for childhood cancers. The Blarney Stone St. Baldrick’s team is at it again, with this year’s event planned for March 28, from 2 to 6 p.m. The bar is set high, with a fundraising goal of $30,000. Fifteen shavees have already signed up to go big and bald. The person who raises the most money over $2,000 who shaves their head at Blarney Stone wins their weight in beer from Two Brothers, or four Blackhawks tickets.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a national non-profit organization that raises money for childhood cancer research. Volunteers with the organization typically host special events in which they shave their heads in solidarity with children who lost their hair during cancer treatment.

“This event is not only a fun and new way to raise money to end childhood cancer, but it truly benefits all of our brave little heroes out there fighting the courageous battle against cancer,” wrote event organizer Danielle Scaccia, on her fundraising page. “So many lives are touched through the help of the St. Baldrick’s foundation, and I am glad that both you and I, together, are making a difference.”
