Texting, Speeding Suspected in Harvey Crash that Killed 1, Critically Injured 2
A car struck a semi and became wedged under its trailer late Wednesday night.

One man is dead and two others were critically injured Wednesday night in a crash in south suburban Harvey.
A semi traveling north on West Avenue was making a legal left turn into a rail yard around 11 p.m., when a black Nissan Maxima traveling east on 159th Street slammed into the truck and became wedged under the trailer, ABC reports.
Three men in their 20s were inside the car, and all were trapped. A backseat passenger from Calumet City was rushed to Ingalls Hospital, but died en route. He has not been identified. Two other passengers were taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center and Stroger Hospital.

Police said speeding and distracted driving may have caused the crash. A cell phone was found on the floor on the driverβs side. Preliminary investigations do not indicate alcohol was involved, but toxicology results are pending.
