These 19 Illinois Towns Made Neighborhood Scout's 2015 Safest Cities List

Illinois is home to 19 of the nation's 100 safest cities.

In Illinois, the chance of becoming a victim of a violent crime is 1 in 263 in a given year. The U.S. sees 37.9 crimes per square mile every year. Illinois’ rate is slightly higher, at 38 crimes per square mile each year.

Using the latest violent crimes data from the FBI, Neighborhood Scout ranked the 100 safest cities in the country, 19 of which are in Illinois. Unsurprisingly, the majority of the towns on this list are concentrated in the northwest suburbs.
