This Week's Pet: A Shy, Pretty Little Pit Bull Mix
Meet Shawna, a gentle, 2-year-old female terrier and pit bull mix who came to PAWS injured, and now needs a new place to call home.
Two-year-old terrier/pit bull mix Shawna is a sweetheart, who in her month-long stay at Tinley Park PAWS, has become a volunteer favorite.
When she first arrived at the shelter, she was recovering from an open neck wound that some volunteers think could have been caused by an embedded collar. Shawna came in from another shelter due to overcrowding, under recommendation from a vet who had treated her before her arrival.
Shawna is quiet and a bit timid. She turns away from other dogs barking in the dog runs around her, seemingly wanting to return to her personal kennel. She is a bit underweight, but volunteers are monitoring her closely and making sure she eats enough. Her history is mostly unknown. While she is shy, she quickly warms up to a hand that scratches her behind the ears.
