Three Bremen HS Students Receive Cook County Sheriff's Youth Service Medal of Honor

Three students contributed at least 100 hours of service to their communities

Three outstanding Bremen High School students have been honored with the Cook County Sheriff’s Youth Service Medal of Honor Award; senior Nicole Ames, senior Star Ortega, and sophomore Kitara Dee. These three outstanding citizens have each documented more than 100 hours of community service in just one year! They also wrote stellar essays scripting how the community service plays a role in their lives.

The Sheriff’s Youth Service Medal of Honor was established to recognize Cook County youth that volunteer throughout their community. This award was started partially to bridge the gap between teens and the Sheriff’s department.

“I’ve gotten the opportunity to work with these students through their community work and through National Honors Society. They are wonderful role models for their peers and class and show significant character throughout their daily lives. I’m very proud of them and hope to see more Bremen students follow in their footsteps,” said Bremen High School teacher and National Honors Society sponsor Mr. Terry Stephens
