Ticket to Oak Fest 2012: A Carnival for All
Kids of all ages (and parents, too!) will be amused at all the amusement to behold in Oak Fest 2012 carnival.

The Main Event: The Carnival
When: Starts 6 p.m. on week nights and noon on weekends for the general public. Shuts down at 10 p.m. every night.
Take Note: From 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 30, the carnival will open up only to children with special needs.

Nothing draws a crowd like a carnival. The one coming to is put on by Spectacular Midways. (You be the judge if it lives up to its name.)
"We get a lot of feedback from young families wanting entertainment for little kids," said Connie Barrera, an Oak Fest commissioner.

This year, festival organizers made sure that the carnival featured more rides geared toward teenagers, hoping to appeal more to kids of all ages. Also new to this year is closing time. Carnival amusement shuts down at 10 p.m. sharp.
Look for the specials that are currently going on and will be available during Oak Fest.
On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a special $25 wristband available to buy for 1 to 5 p.m. That's quite a deal. All rides cost only two tickets ($2 total) on Monday and Tuesday.
For those who truly want to experience the carnival, a mega pass is on sale at City Hall until 5 p.m. June 28 for $50. This gets you rides all festival days and for all hours the carnival is open. After June 28, the Mega Pass costs $75 at the festival grounds.
June 28 Highlights (Day 1 of Oak Fest):
- Fireworks when it gets dark
- Salute to Hometown Heroes, 9 p.m.
- Bingo, 6 to 11 p.m.
- Five Guys Named Moe, 6 to 9 p.m.
- Maggie Speaks, 9:30 p.m. to Midnight
Oak Fest is located near 159th & Central. Admission is free. It runs from June 28 to July 4.
