Tinley Park Fire Chief Receives Volunteer Award from Bremen HS District 228
TPHS alum Ken Dunn was recognized by District 228

At its regular meeting on Tuesday, our Board of Education recognized Mr. Ken Dunn, the Village of Tinley Park's Fire Chief. Mr. Dunn is retiring from the Fire Department after 45 years of service.
Tinley Park Principal, Dr. Theresa Nolan, introduced Mr. Dunn and said that he is a 1965 graduate of Tinley Park High School who spent 5 years with the Armed Forces in the Army Security Agency. He began his career with the TP Fire Department in 1971 as a volunteer firefighter. By 1974 he became Lieutenant Dunn and in 1984 he was elected Assistant Chief. Then, in 1996, he was made a paid-on-call Fire Chief. Finally, in 2004 the Village appointed Mr. Dunn as their first full-time Fire Chief/Fire Prevention Administrator. On April 7, 1999 Chief Dunn received a Medal of Valor for his role in rescuing Oak Forest Firefighter Chuck Evans during a blaze that gutted a house. To this day, the two remain close friends. And... the list goes on. However, one of the notable is that of a quiet but strong leader whose main goal has been to provide guidance for us in maintaining the safety of all who walk the halls of Tinley Park High School.
Chief Dunn spoke about his years as a student at Tinley Park High School and his work with Tinley Park High School as Fire Chief. Board President Debi Stearns then presented Mr. Dunn with a plaque to honor his service and wished Chief Dunn and his wife, children and grandchildren all the best.
