Two Armed Robberies in 7 Days in Oak Forest

It's unclear if police think the two crimes are related.

Two separate holdups in a seven-day span have been reported in Oak Forest.

Both were committed by a pair of robbers but victims’ descriptions of the suspects don’t match, and a different weapon was used in each, according to police reports.

In one account, two men in hooded sweatshirts flashed a butcher knife when they approached a 34-year-old Chicago man shortly after 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6. The man had just left the Forest Hills apartment complex and was walking along 159th Street, on his way to the Metra station. They grabbed the man, ordered that he empty his pockets, and tore his pocket before making off with his wallet and cellphone. The man was not harmed.
