South Suburban Conference Bestows 'Coach of the Year' Upon 2 Oak Forest HS Staff Members
Oak Forest's Christine DiVenti, a cheerleading coach, and Matt Spreadbury, a bowling coach, received high honors this week.
Oak Forest High School Athletic Director Ron Towner announced that Oak Forest High School Coaches Matt Spreadbury and Christine DiVenti were each named Coach of the Year this year in the South Suburban Conference.
Coach Christine DiVenti and the Cheer Team had a terrific year. The Cheer Team was awarded the IHSA State Championship and they were also Sectional Champions. Since 2006, the team has also been State Runner Ups in the Medium Varsity Division (2012), and has placed third in state three times (2009, 2010, 2014).
The Cheer Team has been IHSA Sectional Champions four times (2011, 2012, 2014, 2016). They have also won the Sportsmanship Award for SSC Blue in 2013, 2014, and 2015.The team has been an IHSA State Qualifier every year since 2006. Although DiVenti has won the SSC Coach of the Year four times, she remains humble about her successes as a cheer coach, giving the team the credit for all of their hard work.

This winter, after the Cheer Team had won state, the school had a pep assembly where students could watch the award winning routine and DiVenti thanked the students, faculty and administration for all of their support. Oak Forest High School Bowling Coach Matt Spreadbury also had a great year this year.
The Bowling team won the SSC Blue Conference this year with an overall conference record of 13-3. They qualified for the IHSA Sectional Tournament for the first time since 2013. Spreadbury identifies his greatest accomplishment as the ethic of hard work on the Bowling team.
